Biography
I have taught piano and music theory to both children and adults since 2016, following my formal training at the University of Hull under renowned international pianist and Moscow Conservatoire graduate Irina Glushenkova. In addition to performing as a soloist, I have also rehearsed and led numerous Orchestral and Choral performances as a conductor, and have significant experience in participating in a wide variety of professional concerts.
My desire to go beyond what I'd learned as an undergraduate led to the successful completion of a Masters’ degree in 2009 (University of Hull). Shortly after, I was appointed Assistant Director of Music at Eagle House School in Sandhurst, where I was able to obtain significant experience in one-to-one tuition, music theory/aural workshop delivery and classroom teaching. I was also heavily involved in the rehearsal, preparation and accompaniment of ABRSM grade exam candidates across a variety of instrumental disciplines during my time in this position, and successfully helped coach a number of pupils to being awarded full music scholarships at the school’s senior affiliate, Wellington College.
In 2012, I decided to diversify my experience in music education, finding employment in behind the scenes, administrative roles for various music education charities and institutions such as the British Suzuki Institute in Chiswick, London and the Academy of Contemporary Music (ACM) in Guildford. But my experience of interacting with students directly, helping them to discover new things and shape their abilities, guided me into specialised, one-to-one piano tuition. In 2016, I took up my first post as a visiting Piano Teacher at Hickies Music School in Reading; in February 2017, I left my job at the ACM in order to pursue a full time career as a self employed piano teacher.
I now work as a full time Peripatetic Music Teacher, teaching privately at home as well as holding a teaching post at Bishopshalt School in Uxbridge.
